'Womb With A View' - Winner of The Angela Gidden Award for Innovation in Fashion Design.

This collection was inspired by the Exbury Egg Project and Jennifer Rubell's 'Portrait of the Artist', which is a larger than life self portrait of herself when she was 8 months pregnant with her womb hollowed out which spectators can climb inside.

The collection features cocooning silhouettes, oversized ovoid shapes, curving seams, textures inspired by fungi and natural wood prints. All the garments are in feminine silhouettes and are designed to reconnect the wearer back to nature once more.

Fabric waste was minimised within the collection through creative pattern cutting and the wooden print fabric was printed to the exact specifications needed to further minimise waste.

One of the fabrics used within this collection is Barkcloth, a textile made using ancient techniques by a tribe in Uganda from the bark of the Mutuba tree which is sustainable and created by hand.

Another innovative fabric used within the collection is Foldtex. Scraps of wood are cleaned and then backed with fabric and milled into beautiful geometric folding designs.
